I joined the VCU Literacy Institute as a Literacy Coach in January 2009. I find working with teachers to implement literacy lessons very rewarding. I have been an educator for the past 14 years in the public school system. I have also tutored struggling readers and been the Mentor coordinator for new educators in the classroom. I have organized and ran many professional/staff developments on diversity, new teacher orientation and teacher survival skills for the past 8 years in my previous position.

I have a BS in Early childhood/Elementary Education from Charleston Southern University, a Master of Education with an emphasis in Reading from University of Virginia and a Master of Education with an emphasis in Adminstration and Supervision from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have committed myself to being a lifelong learner. My hobbies include reading and writing poetry.
